Quick answer before you get to checkout: no — the Train Horn for Milwaukee® 18v Battery does not ship with a Milwaukee® M18™ battery in the standard box. The battery and charger are sold separately, and there's a good reason for that. I've unboxed every model in this lineup on my own bench, so here's exactly what's in the box, what's not, and what you need on hand to be blasting five minutes after the driver drops the package.

The Short Answer: No Battery in the Standard Box — and Why

Every horn in this lineup is listed the same way: battery and charger sold separately, packages available. That's not the seller being cheap — it's the whole business model of a battery-platform horn. This thing exists because the garages of America are already full of M18™ packs sitting on chargers. If yours is one of them, bundling a battery into every box would just make you pay twice for something you own three of.

The horn works with any Milwaukee® M18 battery — OEM or aftermarket. There's no special pack requirement, no minimum amp-hours to make it fire. Snap on whatever 18v pack you already run and it's live. If you don't own a pack yet, most product pages offer a package option that adds a battery and charger to your order at checkout — more on that below.

What's Included With Every Train Horn for Milwaukee® 18v Battery

I've opened enough of these boxes to give you the packing list from memory. Regardless of which model you pick, the standard box has four things:

• The horn unit itself — the handheld body with the integrated air compressor, trigger, and the M18™ battery mount on the bottom. Fully assembled on every model except the DIY kit.
• The powder-coated metal trumpets — two, four, or five of them depending on the model, tuned in different sizes for that layered train-horn chord.

The DIY kit is the same quad-trumpet horn shipped as components — compressor unit, four trumpets, air hose, and the remote hardware — that you join together on the bench in about 20 minutes with hand tools. Everything else arrives fully assembled.

What's NOT in the Box

So you're not surprised on delivery day, here's the full list of what you won't find under the packing foam:

• The Milwaukee® M18™ battery. Sold separately, or added as a package option at checkout on most models.
• A charger. Same deal — if you already own an M18™ charger, you're covered; if not, add one with the battery package.
• Hearing protection. Not included anywhere, and you genuinely need it. I don't fire mine at close range without earmuffs, ever.
• Mounting hardware. These are handheld horns by design. If you want to strap one to a roll bar or bed rail, that's a clamp-and-strap trip to the hardware store, not something in the box.

Already Own M18™ Packs? You're 30 Seconds From Loud

This is the scenario the horn was built for. If there's a drill or impact battery on your charger right now, you own the most expensive part of the system already. The battery mount accepts any pack in the M18™ line — from the compact CP2.0 (2.0Ah) up through the XC5.0 (5.0Ah) and the big FORGE™ HD12.0 (12.0Ah). Milwaukee® builds that lineup to be cross-compatible across the M18™ platform, so the horn doesn't care which one you snap on.

Which pack should you grab off the shelf? Short version from my testing: any of them will fire the horn at full volume — capacity changes how many blasts you get, not how loud they are. A 2.0Ah pack is the lightest for handheld use; a 5.0Ah pack is the sweet spot for a full tailgate or a season of trail rides. Don't Own a Battery Yet? Here's Your Move

Two options, and I've done both:

• Add the package at checkout. Most models in the lineup offer a battery-and-charger package as an option on the product page. One order, one box on the porch, zero extra shopping.
• Buy a pack separately. Any hardware store that stocks the Milwaukee® platform carries M18™ packs, and aftermarket M18-compatible packs work too. Charge it before the horn arrives and you're ready on day one.

FAQ

Does the wireless remote come with batteries?

Yes. The remote ships with two CR2016 button cells pre-installed and the remote already synced to the horn, so it works straight out of the box. The cells are replaceable — you can grab CR2016s at any drugstore checkout when they eventually run down.

Is a charger included?

No. Like the battery, the charger is sold separately or as part of the optional battery package at checkout. If you already run the Milwaukee® platform, your existing M18™ charger is all you need.

Will an aftermarket M18-compatible battery work?

Is the horn ready to use out of the box?

Yes — every pre-assembled model arrives ready to fire: secure a charged pack, point the trumpets away from anyone's ears, and press. The one exception is the DIY kit, which needs about 20 minutes of bench assembly first. No wiring, no air tank, no installation on any of them.

What about warranty and shipping?

The horn is backed by a 1-year warranty, and eligible orders get same-day ship-out. The battery you add — OEM or otherwise — carries its own manufacturer warranty separate from the horn.
