Lithium-ion cells wear out with use and with plain calendar time. FAQ

Can I replace the battery in a sealed-pack horn when it wears out?

Generally no. The packs are built in, not user-serviceable, and cracking the housing open to solder in new cells is a bad idea on a device that draws this much current. When the internal pack stops holding a charge, the practical answer is recycling the unit at a battery drop-off point and buying something with a replaceable pack.

Do I need to buy a Milwaukee® battery to run one of these horns?

If you already own any M18™ pack — from a drill, a saw, a jobsite light — you're set; the horn accepts every capacity in the line.
